Steamboat Springs, CO is a frequent go-to winter destination for us filled with friends, family, and skiing. We love the mountain with its expansive terrain and low starting altitudes (as you get older, you think about these things.)
It’s a sunny town, not dug into a mountain crevasse but spouting out of high mountain plains. The base is 6,900 elevation, with 10,500 ft at the summit. The terrain will meet the needs of all levels. The tree skiing here is exceptional with the tree distance being perfect to protect the champagne powder till you search out its hidden stashes. If you are a powder hound, this is the mountain for you!
During the spring they have free concerts at the base of the mountain as blue bird days kick into full gear with a fabulous base lodge area that rivals Vail. But unlike Vail, the town has managed to maintain some of its cowboy appeal from days gone by. The true cowboys are being pushed out but not as fast or far as many western mountain towns.
Town is good for foodies and plenty to explore for skiers and non-skiers alike. Good shopping with lots of boutiques. Check out my favorite #kalisbotique.
A few things to add to your Boat bucket list:

Our favorite restaurant is #SeedzCafe, with lots of organic and healthy options. The #CommonsFoodHall is also a fun casual spot for a beer and a meal with friends. Rent a yurt at #PearlLakeStatePark. That’s an evening or weekend you will never forget, especially in fall or winter.
Steamboat is known as SkiTownUSA. It’s a great family town to raise a family or to introduce the kiddos to the delights of winter. Thank you to the town, the mountain, to our family, and friends for always welcoming us back.
