Aftermath of Hurricane Ian

09.28.2022 * Aftermath of Hurricane Ian * Key West, FL *

The Keys did relatively well with hurricane Ian. Here are a few of the more dramatic photos from yesterday. We could not return to our RV park as the electric boxes were knocked out. The whole park had storm surge so it’s good we left. Our RV spot is in a little harbor. The surge pushed up into it. Upon yesterday’s return we were able to get a spot across the street at Boyd’s RV Campground. Quite a few people stayed in the RVs and rode out the storm. Everyone that we have talked to about the previous night’s said that it was pretty scary. We went up to the mainland, towed the RV to Homestead, Fl, got a room at Courtyard by Marriott. I’m a bit of a baby when it comes to tropical storms and their following tornadoes and RVs. Island is almost already back to normal. Most of the electricity is already restored. We have not been able to get to southernmost yet. The roads are blocked off. Hopefully we will get to check that out today. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone on Sanibel Island, Captiva, Fort Myers, and all the areas in the direct path of Ian. Prayers for everyone’s safety. Remember property can be replaced, but lives cannot. GodSpeed.
