Most beginnings can be rocky. It takes time to hit your stride. This beginning lived up to that adage. We picked up our new to us RV at 4 pm in Mineral, VA, charged the batteries, checked the slides, and the jacks, the heat, and off we went. Our plan was to spend our first night at a Harvest Host, Death Ridge Brewery in Culpeper, VA. We met up with friends to celebrate our new beginning. 9 pm, we head back to the RV to show off our new rig. Then the lights began to dim. Soon the low battery alarm was beeping, and the deep freeze began. We had no bedding, no outlets, just a deep chill and incessant beeping. It was a long night dropping to 28 degrees in the rig. At 6 am we finally sat in the truck to warm up and charge the RV batteries so we could get the slides in. We are now headed back to Baltimore for the holidays. December 27th, we head out on a two-plus year journey. Our plan is to hit every National Park (with breaks in the winter to ski and frequent flights to visit our family in Jacksonville, FL and Baltimore, MD). I hope many of you will virtually ride along on our next adventure.
