Steamboat Springs shares in my Safety Third Mantra. During the Winter Carnival, 400 plus kids ski and board at night. The youngest ones, as young as 5, have light sticks attached to them. Once you hit double digits, you get flares. As you advance, you may get to jump off jumps with flares. The teens ski with Roman Candles, including Burning Man in the last photo… my personal favorite. The instructor’s jump through a flaming hoop and one with a flaming sled. Look the other way Social Services… look the other way. The kids are fine. What a great community.
