Humor me and let me define hokey. This is IT! Hokey, yet completely awesome! This trip started with a 5.5 mi ride on the World-Famous Toonerville Trolley. Then we boarded the Riverboat Hiawatha for a 25 mile ride up the Tahquamenon River. Then a short hike to the Tahquamenon Falls before it dumps into Lake Superior (dumping the water not us. lol). Our Riverboat Captain / Guide, a man who was a wealth of facts, stories, and history said the kids call the falls Root Beer Falls. Check out the golden-brown color of the water over the falls. The water is this color because the headwaters of the river are in a swamp, rich in cedar, spruce, and hemlock trees, and full of tannin. All Aboard!
