1st day of the season with our IKON Passes. 1st time ever skiing Taos, NM. Blue Bird Day with EPIC conditions!
Mountain was smaller than I imagined. Only 15 lifts. We stuck to the blues today, while getting our ski legs underneath us. Base is 9,321 feet with over 3k feet of vertical. Mostly North facing so good snow preservation. Crowds weren’t bad despite being Saturday and one of the best conditions YTD per the locals.
The base village is small. Minimal lodging, food and bar options. Vibe was good. Down to earth crowd who were friendly. Biggest issue is its so far south some years they get little snow. Seems Purgatory sucks up most the snow. They have overnight parking for RVers and Van Lifers. Our rig would be too big for the lot, but if you are smaller and can boondock, bet that’s a blast
